Juror of entries and judge of awards: Diana Coco Russell is a professor at Academy of Arts University of San Francisco.  She is a graduate from Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, in Illustration and holds a Masters in Education from UCLA.  For many years she concentrated on animation and worked at a number of studios including: “Filmation” and “Warner Bros.”  However, most of her time was spent at “Walt Disney” doing feature animation.  She is an expert in many media including: oils, pastel, digital art, watercolor, pen and ink, monoprint and charcoal.

Entry is open to all artists, 18 years or older. Artists living locally will be requested to sit show one shift.

Fine art painting, drawing, photography and 3D art.  See online form for specific media.  Work must be original, not derived from a published photo or painting, less than three years old, and not shown previously at a Mother Lode Show.  No prints or reproductions, excluding photography, will be accepted. Accepted art must be the same as submitted online.

One image of each entry will be accepted for 2-D art work. 3-D art entries will allow up to 3 images per piece. Please note online instructions. Entries must be JPEG and will be uploaded to our online system “Smarter Entry” found on our website., or from our link at  Accept/decline notification will be via email.  For other entry information and questions contact
Image Format Requirements: Images need to be between 800 pixels (px) and 1,280 pixels on the longest side.  If your image(s) is less than 800 px on the longest side, it would be best to resize it using the original, larger file.  If you do not have the original larger file, do not try to upsize your image.  You are better off submitting an image as small as 600 px on the longest side than to distort the quality of the image by trying to increase pixel dimension.  But this is not optimum.
File Names:  Keep it simple.  "imagename.jpg"
3D Artists:  Email Sylvia for instructions on uploading a 2nd or 3rd image for each entry.  See bottom of Prospectus.
Notification of acceptance will be sent via email, and online.
For online entry information and questions contact:

Number of entries up to 5 of which only 2 may be accepted. Fees are the same for PAA members and for non- members; $40 for up to 2 entries, $10 for each additional entry. Entry fees are nonrefundable.

All artwork must indicate sale price, of which only one may be listed as “not-for-sale” (NFS) in the entry information.  A commission of 30% of the sale price will be retained by PAA. Charge card sales will be accepted on the last day of the show and will add estimated 3.5% fee.

Every reasonable precaution will be taken in handling your work, but no responsibility for any loss or damage of any kind will be assumed by PAA or the Placerville Shakespeare Club. It is suggested that each artist carry their own insurance.

Two-dimensional works must not exceed 72” of the top and one side added together with frame.  Diptych and Triptych entries must be in one frame, not exceeding the above dimensions.  Sculpture and 3-D must not exceed 50 pounds.  All hanging pieces are not to exceed 25 pounds.

Works must be framed (with the exception of canvas on wide bars i.e. gallery wrap, and these should have the edges painted, or if photography or digital, the image should extend around the edges). All pieces must be ready to install with backs of paintings wired and taped.  No saw tooth hangars or screw eyes, clip frames or plastic box frames.  Plexiglas is strongly recommended for all shipped paintings.  PAA reserves the right not to hang works that do not meet these guidelines.  No art in the show may be removed before the close of the show, unless purchased by an out-of-the-area buyer and with permission from PAA.

Accepted art being shipped to this show must have prepaid return shipping and arrive at designated location by July 29.  Additional instructions, shipping address, unpacking and repacking fee information will be sent to the accepted entries.
